HE IS RISEN - WHAT THE RESURRECTION MEANS TO US

Every spring, Christians around the world celebrate Easter, the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  For many, it’s a day of special church services, family meals, and time together.   But beneath all the traditions lies the heart of the Christian faith: the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The resurrection is more than just a beautiful story.  It's God’s declaration that sin, death, and hell don't have the final word.  What happened that first Easter morning changes everything for the person who doesn't yet know Christ, and for the believer who has already trusted Him.

What The Resurrection Means For The Lost Person

When the Bible speaks of the "lost," it describes people who are separated from God because of sin and without the hope of eternal life.  This isn't just a small mistake or a few bad choices; it’s a condition of the heart. The resurrection of Jesus speaks to this condition.

The Resurrection Proves That Jesus Is Who He Claimed to Be

Jesus didn't claim to be merely a good teacher or a wise religious leader.  He claimed to be the Son of God, the only way to the Father (John 14:6).  His resurrection is God’s stamp of approval on everything Jesus said and did.  If Jesus truly rose from the dead, then His claim to be Savior and Lord is true and demands a response.

The Resurrection Offers Forgiveness of Sins

The Bible teaches that "The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23).  Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  His resurrection proves that the payment was accepted.  The debt is paid in full.  Because He lives, anyone who turns from sin and believes in Him can be forgiven completely and forever.

The Resurrection Opens the Door to New Life

Without Christ, people may feel empty, guilty, or unsure about what happens after death.  The resurrection offers living hope.  The same power that raised Jesus from the dead can give new life to anyone who trusts in Him (Ephesians 1:19–20).  This isn't just a promise of heaven someday, but a new heart and a new beginning right now.

If you haven't met Christ yet, Easter is God’s invitation to you.  He's not distant or indifferent; through the risen Savior, He reaches out with love and calls you by name.  You can come to Him simply by faith, confessing your sins, believing that Jesus died and rose again for you, and asking Him to be your Lord and Savior.

What The Resurrection Means For The Christian

For those who have already trusted Christ, Easter is not just a reminder of a past event; it's the foundation of daily life.

We have the Assurance of Salvation

Because Jesus lives, believers can know that their salvation is secure.  Our faith is based on a risen Lord who defeated death, not on feelings or changing circumstances.  "….Because I live, ye shall live also" (John 14:19).  The empty tomb is God’s promise that nothing, not even death, can separate us from His love. (Romans 8:35-39)

We have the Power for Daily Living

The Christian life isn't meant to be lived in our own strength.  The same power that raised Jesus from the dead now works within us through the Holy Spirit.  This means we can overcome sin, grow in holiness, love others sacrificially, and stand firm in trials.  Easter reminds believers that we are not powerless or alone.

We have Hope in Suffering and Death

Christians still face sickness, sorrow, and loss.  But because of the resurrection, we face them with hope. Death is no longer a final defeat, but a defeated enemy.  For the believer, the grave isn't an end, but a doorway into the presence of Christ.  We grieve, but not as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13–14).

We have A Call to Witness

The first followers of Jesus couldn't keep the news of His resurrection to themselves.  They shared it openly with joy.  Today, every Christian is called to do the same to live and speak in a way that others see the truth of the risen Christ.

One Message, Two Responses

The resurrection of Jesus Christ touches every human heart.  For those who are lost, it serves as a loving yet urgent call: "Be reconciled to God." For Christians, it acts as a constant reminder: "Live with the power and hope of the risen Lord."

This Easter, don't let the message be just another holiday tradition.  Reflect on what the empty tomb means for you today.  If you're still far from God, listen to His invitation and come.  If you belong to Christ, rejoice and let your life reflect that your Savior is alive.

"He is not here: for He is risen, as He said… " (Matthew 28:6)
